I love this book…
October 2, 2009
I have fallen in love with this book. Not only is it Bob Dylan, but the illustrations are fantastic too. It has such a beautiful message of peace, anti-war, love, and acceptance. It is just really great. Have I mentioned that I love it?
Where have you been?
August 19, 2009
Is that what all my MANY MANY followers are asking ?:) Yes, I am being facetious. I hope to start “an activity a day” again now that the kids have started back to school.
One thing I wanted to post that I never posted from this summer was the stoll that I made my husband for his birthday. It was my sewing project while he was in Colorado for two weeks.
Look what I grew…
July 16, 2009
I know that I haven’t been the best blogger lately. It only means that we’ve been having so much fun that there hasn’t been time. But, I did want to get a picture up of what I grew. I grew my own SPINACH!!! There will also be more pictures coming soon of other things. I am working on something special.

Living life to the fullest…
June 17, 2009
We are trying to live life to the fullest around here (as much as we can on our budget). I was looking at this today from this great site. I mean…does this not just bring out the child in you? It would be SO fun!

But, since we can’t build that awesome tree house we settled for painting some fun little things today. We sat around the dinner table and had some major laughs. We had a serious discussion about the after life. Then, we had some sweet night time hugs and kisses. That is REALLY living life to the fullest. But, yes…I would still love to build a tree house. Here is what we painted today.
(And no…our dog is not a genius mutant mutt that can read. But, the four year human had fun sounding out the word.)

We also made (finally) a place to put backpacks. We went through the whole school year always tripping over backpacks. Now, thanks to a summer project and a great $3 thrift store find…we’ve got a handle on the next school year’s backpack dilemma.

Do you salsa?
June 13, 2009
Yesterday the kids and I made salsa and apple sauce. The kids finished up the secret project (their father’s day present) and I worked on the doll house family.
Our salsa turned out really yummy…we had it with dinner last night. We sampled our apple sauce this morning for breakfast.
Now, the low down on the father’s day gift: They worked really hard on it. They really missed their daddy this week since he was out of town all week. They couldn’t wait till father’s day to give it to him. So, our father’s day happened last night.

Finally, here is the new doll house family. I wanted a family modeled after our own. I found the little wooden peg people on Itsy. Then, I spent a couple of hours painting them to resemble our crew.
Cardigan…

Here is a picture of the cardigan I made last night. The picture is a little blurry, but you get the idea.

Top secret project…
June 11, 2009
I would post about our project, but it is top secret and will have to wait until after the weekend. It involves a dad and some very creative kids.
Today I made the cutest cardigan. I will post a picture tomorrow. It is so comfortable…and I think so adorable…that I could wear it every day. But, once again it is late so the picture of the dreamy cardigan will have to wait until tomorrow.
I went thrifty store searching today. I wanted to find a good sturdy old coffee table that I could put the doll house on to get it up off the floor. Well, I just happen to hit the fabric jackpot while I was there. I found a piece of vintage looking green and gold cloth that I can not wait to make myself a skirt out of…especially since my favorite t-shirt that I own is the exact same color of green. Giddy I tell you…GIDDY! Oh…and we found a perfect table too.
Creative Day #18
June 10, 2009
I am back…
June 9, 2009

It might have seemed that I disappeared from the blog world. But, really we were on a rather creative trip. My husband and I had to go to a conference this past week. After the conference we decided to extend our trip a little bit and enjoy the children’s museum. Very creative, right?

The kids had a lot of fun and we came home with some inspiration. My grandad built me a doll house when I was 8 years old. I still have it and I have done some remodeling in the past. But, there were some awesome doll houses at the children’s museum. So, we decided that we are going to start a doll house overhaul. Tomorrow I will post pictures of how it looks now. Then, I will post pictures as we remodel. Should be a fun creative outlet and will help preserve something that is really important to me.
Goodwill Party…
June 2, 2009
Over at the Thrifty Decor Chick’s site there is a party going on. She had the fun idea of people showing their Goodwill/garage sale finds.
I have two favorite finds. The white buffet that is in our room and the rocking chair in our living room. The white buffet was spray painted and just really yucky. But, it was very sturdy and the hardware was still in great shape. I saw the potential. With a lot of elbow grease from my mom and I…it turned out beautiful. I paid $12 dollars for it.
My second find…the rocking chair. I paid only $5 for it. The seat had been burned up and the rest of the chair was covered with soot. Once again…I saw the potential. It was a strong chair. So, I made a new seat with a piece of new wood, new cloth, and new padding. I cleaned it all up….and this is what was underneath. I LOVE it! It has rocked many a baby:)
